THE R8 1:1 – Profesional Amateurs

The R8 1:1 – Profesional Amateurs is a Time Attack team led by Sami Sivonen from Ylöjärvi, Finland. Our mission? To break track records!

But what does the intriguing “R8 1:1” signify? It’s not a simple model name; rather, it stands for the power-to-weight ratio of the car. The team competes with a self-built Audi R8 that embodies this impressive balance. Imagine a finely tuned machine where every horsepower is matched by an equivalent kilogram of weight. That’s the essence of the R8 1:1.

What does the poorly misspelled Profesional Amateurs stand for? Origins of the name come from the famous World Time Attack Challenge where they have a Pro-Am class. In Pro-Am cars must be driven by amateurs which separates them from Pro class teams. The name describes our whole team and garage built car pretty well so it became the name of the team.

In 2024 a clothing brand “Profesional Amateur” was launched to back up our R8 1:1 “Fat Cat” merchandise and it’s meant for all of us who work as hard as professionals do to support our Motorsport activities. We believe a true Profesional Amateur can identify all the phrases found from those products.

Sami Sivonen and the crew is on a quest to conquer European tracks, aiming to set new records. Our journey involves pushing the limits, fine-tuning our beast, and leaving tire marks in pursuit of excellence.

You can follow our adrenaline-fueled adventures on our YouTube channel and stay updated via our social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. Whether it’s roaring down the straights or hugging corners, the R8 1:1 team is all about speed, precision, and the thrill of the race!
